Vilnius & Lithuania

Vilnius - Geographical Centre of Europe
As the geographical centre of Europe, a thousand years of Lithuanian history, friendly Lithuanian people and European Capital of Culture 2009 – Vilnius has a lot to show.

European Capital of Culture 2009
Vilnius is the European Capital of Culture this year. Due to this, Vilnius has developed into a modern city with lively cultural scene, charming hotels and excellent conference facilities.

Geographical Centre of Europe
It might be surprising but the French National Institute of Geography has established that the geographical centre of Europe is 24 km from Vilnius. This centre point is marked by the European Park where various artists have contributed some remarkable works of art. Considering that a flight from Frankfurt or Stockholm takes only less than 2 hours and a flight from Paris or Brussels just over 2 hours, then Vilnius is truly in the centre of Europe.

A Thousand Years of History & Warm Lithuanian Hospitality

Unlike the other two Baltic states Lithuania emerged as an independent state already in the 13th century. It once was the largest Kingdom in Eastern Europe. This is also reflected in the rich and fascinating history of Lithuania. The city has been blessed with many different architectural styles - Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical, great location in the amphitheatre of the River Neris and very friendly people!
